tarzan

haven't seen this vid in a couple years and stumbled on it again today. great reminder of classic animation.

Yeahuh

"The real stars of the movie are the animators, who imbue even the overgrowth in Horton's jungle with a certain floppy Seuss-ishness. When the apelike Wickersham brothers are firing bananas out of their armpits, the film attains Tex Avery-grade nuttiness. The visual gags are mostly just great, great fun." ~Variety

wooh whoo! like the candy bar

round 2 of crunch time. thanks to some much appreciated generosity, i was able to land one of the remote freelance animation postions to help wrap up Open Season 2. reel FX seems like a pretty rockin company, and the few people that i have meet so far have been really cool. so i have the ability to spend some time around family while animating for food. wooh whoo!

::time for traditional poo::

so i haven't done a digital type painting in a long time. to get back into the swing of things, i've done this wall.e rip, with an om age to Ashley Wood's color palette. although i went darker than Wood usually goes. i think i'll probably use it again sometime. if you think the cheezy paint texture effect is no good, let me know. it's impossible to get Wood's brush stroke effect with the standard brushes ::corel:: provides, or i just do0n't know how to get it to do so. anyways, there is something wonderful to say about sitting down and just frunkin coloring for a while. maybe i'll save that for another post though.

atlanta GA?!?!

well, it's been fun. a lot of fun. it is insane how quickly time just passes by. especially when you're as one tracked as i am, or as i can be. christal and i are sadly no longer lost in yonkers, yes, we found our way. we decided against trying to stay in the ny; i know it'd be cool to work in the city, take the train down with all the trend-setters, but i've had a couple of reservations. first is family; there is a good chance that i won't find a top notch animation job at one of the commercial houses, and with a consistent amount of bills coming in, i know i will end up getting desparate and taking up any old position, animation or not. so i figure if i am not in ny for a specific career reason, i'd rather spend time with family. after all, life is much shorter than it seems. i could wait around until bluesky is ramping back up for 'ia3' but it is pretty unethical/illegal for any of my supervisors to give me any word that says i would 'for sure' be able to come back (even though i think i :might: be able to). anyways, who knows when that could happen, they could say they'd probably start ramping up in a few months, which could end up stretching out into a year or something. so, for right now, we're heading to atlanta, where the majority of christals family lives. it could be the first time i've had a little break in a while. either way, bluesky was incredible. as a first job i couldn't have asked to be around a better group of people; really amazing. everyone said before i came up here that they're like a big family; well it's true. and i am very happy to have been the red-headed step child for a little while. this friday is my last day, and i have to say i'm not really looking forward to it. i'll probably end up drinking too much, getting sentimental and start give people long awkward hugs. XD i don't know, just had to write some things out i guess.

good old glover ave

i'm not too sure why i do these panoramic things, i know i really like super wide formats though. i still have one of Helen, Ga., a cool little German-town to finish up. its really messy, rushed through it. this place is definitely starting to really feel like home, and we might be leaving soon so... thought i'd do some documentation. ours is the big tan one in the middle, number 70. when we first moved here, we said glover like, danny glover. but now we know the error of our ways and give it its true irish pronunciation, GLOVER! like a four leaf clover.

horton!

been working on getting everyones stamp that i worked on horton with. sorry to anyone that doesn't see theirs on here, i may have prematurely scanned it in.
its time for the big stretch to the finish line. it's pretty sad, most of the temp animators are leaving today =[ it never stops amazing me how many talented people there are.
i'll be here [blue sky] until the first of 08, maybe through jauary.
::thanks to everyone that singed my book!::

new heights in animation

Just saw this movie last night (special sneek preview), and haven't been able to stop thinking about it since.
"I just love its french-like qualities."

New York is CRAZY! We're living in an Irish part of Westchester called Yonkers. 25 Minute train ride to Grand Central, and close to Blue Sky. As everyone has said, it's like a big family there, the people are really great and super helpful. Can't really say I miss Sarasota all that much, but I definately miss the people.

recent walk cycle: generic

first post

So graduation's coming up and I was trying to think of a way to stay better in contact with all the great artists I've met in the past few years. Now finally with Thesis no longer glooming overhead, I've decided to blog myself. This was my movie poster, even though I ran out of printing money and was never able to tag the walls along with everyone. It was an awsome show last night, everybody's work looked really great! But I realized during the 'goodbyes' that mine did not do any justice to the graditude I have for all the support and good times. So.... thanks guys.
